One of my commitments in this blog is to share my successes and failures trying to grow my business. About a month ago, I developed a new set of business philosophy rules based on a Tony Robbins leadership program that I listened to on CD and DVD. The rule that I listed as Number 1 is “Learn to Love My Clients/Buyers Getting the Better End of the Deal — 80:20 Rule.”
This concept was definitely new to me. I listed it as the number one rule for my business as it feels good to operate my business with this philosophy and I trusted the advice given in Tony’s program.
Well, I am very happy to report that only a month after creating this rule, I have already seen success. Specifically, I spent about 2/3 more hours on a client project than I billed them for to ensure that they received a work product that would provide a great contribution to their project. Less than two weeks later, I received a referral from another client requesting almost the identical work. Not only am I also over-delivering once again, but also I am able to make up for my “lost” time of unbilled hours on the first project.
Although I think that I am only getting started seeing the results of approaching my business with this philosophy, it is a wonderful and rewarding experience to see results so fast.
